Oman has wonderful [detailed] history that can be traced back to 12,000 BC, records from ancient scrolls, namely Mesopotamia, attest to trade with a country known as Magan [Oman & UAE] chronicled by Sargon of Agade [2752-2997BC]

Omani's were seafaring people, early evidence reveals their skill of boat building [dhow] stretches far back as the third millennium, most famous seafarer of all was Ahmed Majid [Sinbad the Sailor] who was hired by Vasco de Gama [1498] as his navigator for his exploits discovering the sea routes to China & beyond.

Cyrus the Great, founder of the Persian empire, included Oman among his conquest in the 4th century until their overthrow [632AD]


The Roman Empire had strategic interest's, protecting their trade in "Frankincense" in the south [ Dhofar region] described in 24BC by Aelius Gallus, a Roman noble as more valuable than gold, in fact Nero burnt more incense at the funeral of his wife Popaea than Arabia produced in a year. Globules were found in Tutankhamun's tomb that have been traced to the particular Boswellis Sacra trees grown in Dhofar.

Sumhuram at a place called Khor Rori stands the legendary palace of Queen of Sheba, it was here where merchants loaded their dhows with raw frankincense for trade in the South China Sea's and only recently in 1992 was the "Lost City of Ubar" discovered by satellite
technology, the evidence gathered at this site leads the way to what archaeologists believe is the connection to the Silk Road land routes.
