Cave Systems of Oman
Hidden within Oman's beautiful mountain landscapes are some of the
World's Largest Cave Systems.

The vast Majlis Al Jinn [Meeting Place of the Spirits] in the eastern Al Hajjar mountain range contains the world's second largest cave chamber of [ 4 million cubic metres ] the main cave chamber is enormous, larger than the great pyramid's of Egypt.

Access is by free abseiling descent of 120 metre's, only experienced speleologists with proper climbing equipment should attempt to enter this cave, the area is very remote and in the event of any emergency, help would take some time to arrive.

Easier Accessible Caving for Beginners
Not all the cave systems in Oman require experience, provided your in good health, lots of stamina with a sense of humour, then discover a new experience.

Hoti Cave, east of Al Hamra is easily accessible for beginners & novice speleologists, the cave contains an underwater lake, where a rare species of pale blind fish [Garra Barreimiae] have been found.


Kitam Cave, near Ibri contains rare and very beautiful gypsum flowers and hairs, these are delicate fibrous crystals formed by rainwater which a draft of air can move them.

These caves can be included in any of our touring & trekking itineraries.
